In case you hadn’t heard, March is Women’s History Month. Just like similar months, it’s all about celebrating the groundbreakers and the trailblazers, and recognizing WHY their trailblazing and groundbreaking is so important!
We live in a world where a lot of people face an extra helping of negative influence and pressure just because of their gender or race or sexual orientation… you name it. And just like with the little, smaller bits of negative influence we face everyday, once one person finds a way to rise above it, we owe them a bit of gratitude for clearing a path for us to do the same.
Whether you’re a dude, a lady, or anywhere in between, these are just some of the women who deserve a round of applause for helping set the stage for ALL of our WCWs!
MARIE CURIE
Think science is more of a guy’s thing? Ms. Curie has two Nobel Prizes she’d like to show you.
ROSA PARKS
Her role as “the first lady of civil rights” and “mother of the freedom movement” cemented a place in history, and earned her a congressional gold medal of honor.
SANDRA DAY O’CONNOR
Correction. We mean, Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, as in the first female Supreme Court justice.
JULIA CHILD
French cooking was a total boys’ club before she came along and persisted in gaining acceptance at the Cordon Bleu cooking school in Paris.
TINA TURNER
She removed herself from an abusive relationship, and then went on to have the biggest successes of her career!
JOAN RIVERS
There have always been funny women, but you didn’t always see them on TV. Before there were Tina and Amy, there was Joan.
Thanks, ladies!
